Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple was left raving over the atmosphere at Molineux as the club welcomed Everton on their return to the Premier League during the opening weekend.

The midlands outfit held the Toffees to a 2-2 draw courtesy of a Raul Jiminez strike 10 minutes from time, having fallen behind twice as Brazilian Richarlison netted a brace for the Merseyside club.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, senior chief Dalrymple said that the noise within the ground was as noisy as he had ever heard it, and acknowledged the supporters for their ‘incredible’ support.

He stated on the social networking site: “The atmosphere yesterday was on another level, the loudest I’ve experienced at Molineux. Incredible support the team and to kick the season off. Leicester next week on the road, and we’ll reconvene for the Champions in two weeks for more of the same.”

Opinion

Wolves certainly should not be too disappointed with a 2-2 draw against Everton, with Richarlison in blistering form for Marco Silva and his men. When you come up against an opponent in that sort of form, you have to do everything you can to stay in the game and Wolves managed to do just that. The support of the fans, who, as Dalrymple states, were excellent before, during, and after the game, will play a big role in their season over the next 10 months and if that is the noise that they are going to create week in, week out, then away sides are in for an intimidating trip to Molineux. However, Nuno Esperito Santo and his side have to warrant the backing of the fans which means keeping performances at a high standard. Let those slip, and the Molineux faithful could well get on the backs of their players, which is not what anyone at the club wants.
