Wolves duo Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota are both on the transfer shortlist for Italian giants Juventus as they plot a potential swoop with the help of superagent Jorge Mendes, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian sports news outlet claim that the Serie A and Champions League heavyweights have been tracking Neves as a long-term target, having been interested in his services since his time at Porto, but that 21-year-old Jota is a new face which Mendes has recommended to sign.

The winger was crucial in Wolves’ title winning campaign last season with 18 goals but is yet to find the back of the net in his first three Premier League outings.

Opinion

Wolves are obviously doing something right in the transfer window if Juventus are now chasing their star men but it all stems from that link with Mendes, who could well go from being a blessing to a curse at Molineux. The agent played a key role in getting such illustrious names to join Wolves in the Championship in the first place, and now that they have secured a place in the top flight he appears to be touting them for a move to Italy. While the opportunity to play in Europe’s biggest competition and battle it out for the Serie A title, you cannot help but feel that Mendes’ motivation lies primarily with the sort of money he could be picking up from their sales. Wolves need to be wary, for they could find themselves at the mercy of Mendes if he helps Juve to seal a deal or two for their top talents.
