Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty has stated that he has never seen anyone provide the same quality on the ball as summer signing Adama Traore.

The Molineux outfit confirmed the capture of the former Middlesrbrough man from the north east side earlier this summer, but fans will have to wait a while to see him in action as he signed despite having suffered a dislocated shoulder in pre-season.

However, Doherty, who has been at the club since 2010, has been left raving over what the Spanish talent can bring to his side, using his experience of playing against him to give a hint as to what supporters can expect when he returns.

He told the Express and Star: “We played against him (Traore) last season and at times he’s unplayable – I’ve not seen that type of running with the ball, pace and power, from anyone..

“The recruitment’s been good, the club has brought in some very good players and I’m sure the manager will get us all to gel. Last season he did that with the new signings so it won’t be a problem.”

Opinion

Doherty’s review of the new arrival at Molineux should have fans rubbing their hands together in glee – although exactly where Traore is going to fit into the senior side when he has recovered is an issue that Nuno Esperito Santo needs to address. The Wolves squad is packed with quality in the attacking third and the former Boro man will bring some electric pace – one of the weak spots of the current side – to complement the creativity on display. There will be a lot of interest from elsewhere as well, with fans from all clubs keen to see whether Traore has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League after dazzling down the wings in the Championship. Wolves and Doherty obviously think he does, but when he comes against quality defenders, is he going to sink or swim? That questions should be answered in a couple of weeks, and his team mates will be hoping he is helping them push up the table rather than battle away from the bottom.
