Former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise has boldly claimed that Eden Hazard will remain loyal to the club amid interest from Real Madrid.

The Blues’ legend believes that the £200,000-a-week [Spotrac] attacking star will commit his future to the club as he is an integral player for the team and the fans, despite interest from the Champions League side.

“I think he’ll stay I really do. He’s important to Chelsea and the fans as well he’s important to the team as he is a player of exceptional ability,” he told beIN SPORTS.

“You want to keep those type of players so fingers crossed nothing happens.”

Hazard – who joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012 – helped Belgium reach the semi-finals of this summer’s World Cup in Russia, contributing to their third-placed finish at the tournament.

OPINION

Eden Hazard has been a long term target for Los Blancos, with former manager Zinedine Zidane a firm admirer of the attacker. Teams across Spain still have time to complete both permanent and loan signings, and the Belgian is undoubtedly still in their sights this summer. However, Wise believes that this is not likely to happen, and that Hazard will remain loyal to the club despite the avid interest. Anything can happen in football and moves can materialise out of nowhere sometimes, so it really is hard to tell whether he would be tempted by a last minute raid from the Spanish giants. Fans would like to think that he would commit his future to them, as he is one of their most important players. Hopefully Wise’s bold transfer claim is true, and that Hazard is fully focused for the season that lays ahead. Keeping the likes of Real Madrid at bay for at least one more season will allow Chelsea to utilise his services in a campaign where a top-four finish is a must.
