There will be many West Ham fans in disbelief at just how exciting the summer transfer window has been for their side – and they will be wondering just how they will be able to improve on their business so far.

While there will likely be some exits from the first team, the London Stadium faithful will be hoping that their spending is not yet over, and by the sounds of it, they could well be in luck.

The Guardian claim that the Hammers are still in the hunt for a number of names in a variety of positions, but one name sticks out as a must for Manuel Pellegrini – Ignacio Camacho.

A former player under the Chilean manager at Malaga, the Spanish international is now plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, and the report states that the Hammers are eyeing up a loan-to-buy bid for the 28-year-old – and they must throw everything they have at securing his signature.

His versatility as both a midfielder and centre back – two positions which could do with strengthening at the Irons – makes him the perfect cover for a number of roles and the fact Pellegrini knows what he can offer will make a transition into the club almost seamless.

His experience, with over 220 top flight appearances in Spain and Germany, as well as 24 in Europe across the Champions League and Europa League, makes him well suited to the Premier League, and with the creative mind of Jack Wilshere in the middle, Camacho could be the perfect foil.

If there was one more signing for Pellegrini, it should be his former enforcer, for he ticks plenty of boxes while leaving the squad from becoming overly bloated – a win-win scenario.
