West Ham are plotting two more arrivals before the end of the summer transfer window as they get ready to ship out more first teamers following Cheikhou Kouyate’s exit, according to club insider ExWHUemployee.

The Twitter account, who have established themselves as a reliable source of inside information surrounding the Hammers, claim that Manuel Pellegrini is planning on swooping for a defensive midfielder as well potentially bringing in a new striker to help support the current options.

It is stated that there could also be some more departures from the London Stadium before next week’s deadline, giving Pellegrini some funds to spend on new recruits.

Opinion

West Ham have been one of the busiest Premier League sides when it comes to new arrivals over the summer and the Hammers faithful should be feeling pretty excited about the start of the new campaign. However, as might have been expected, it sounds like they will have to bid farewell to a couple of familiar faces if they are to continue the overhaul at the London Stadium, with Kouyate already out the door and at Crystal Palace. There are some fringe figures who could probably be let go without any real concern, but the worry will be if Pellegrini is forced to green light the exit of someone from his starting XI. There is always a risk of selling a proven performer to splash the cash on a new recruit, and the Irons do not want to push their luck after what has been a pretty impressive window so far. A new midfielder casts doubts on a number of options at the club, while a backup striker should see the likes of Jordan Hugill leave.
