Tottenham are set to sit down with midfielder Luke Amos and hold talks over extending his stay at the club imminently after impressing on the club’s pre-season tour in the USA, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their live transfer blog (03/08, 15:09) that the Lilywhites will open initial discussions over his future on their return from the States, which ended with a victory over AC Milan earlier this week.

It is stated that the 21-year-old was one of the stand out performers for Spurs and that the club are planning on rewarding him with a new contract as a result.

Opinion

Tottenham may have just found their latest young English gem to join the ever-growing list of homegrown talents, following in the footsteps of Harry Kane and more recently fellow midfielder Harry Winks. Amos is yet to feature for the first team in north London, and has only picked up senior experience with Stevenage and Southend, but it looks as though this could well be his breakthrough year, with the likes of Winks and Moussa Sissoko missing through injury. It would be a big step up from the quality of football he has played before but after being thrown into the deep end against the likes of Barcelona and Roma, he has come out the other side with his reputation vastly enhanced. Could a start be on the cards for when Tottenham take on Newcastle United in their Premier League opener? That might be a bit of a stretch, especially if there are more senior options available, but the Spurs faithful should definitely expect to see him on the bench at St James’ Park.
