As the clock ticks ever closer to the closing of the summer transfer window, Tottenham fans are still frustrated by their club’s lack of business over the last month or two.

Without a single new arrival through the door, Mauricio Pochettino has just a matter of days to try and bring some new recruits to north London in a bid to bolster his side, following what was a positive, but ultimately trophy-less season.

As with any football manager, the Argentine would have identified areas where he needs to strengthen, but for whatever reason he is yet to venture into the window, and fans will be hoping it is not too late to seal at least one or two new arrivals.

The London Evening Standard claim that Spurs are in the market for as many as three new faces before the market slams shut, with a new forwards, centre back and defensive midfielder said to be on Pochettino’s list.

While it is unclear as to who might fill the former two positions, the report states that Olympique Lyonnais enforcer Tanguy N’Dombele is being lined up by the north London outfit to come in and battle the likes of Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama for a first team role.

Highly rated across Europe, the Sun have previously stated the 21-year-old, who is said to have been touted as the next N’Golo Kante due to his similarities in style with the Chelsea man, would cost a fee of around £53million – a record breaking price for Spurs after Davinson Sanchez’s arrival last summer.

However, if he can live up to his moniker as the successor to the 27-year-old French international, then it is a bid worth making.

The Blues man runs games with his energy and dynamism and Spurs could use that in the centre of the pitch, and if silverware comes as a result of his arrival, then his cost is priceless.

Spurs must at least launch an offer before the window shuts to try and prise him away, for he could be the missing piece of the puzzle to secure success.
