Tottenham have entered into talks with Stade Rennais over the temporary exit of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou despite having reportedly agreed a loan-to-buy deal with Mainz earlier this month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their official Twitter account and website that the 5’7″ winger has a number of options to choose from before Friday’s transfer deadline, with Spurs holding negotiations with the French side over sending him out on loan.

The attacker has just 23 appearances under his belt for the north London outfit since joining back in 2016, and has not appeared in a matchday squad this season.

Good move for Tottenham?

The situation with N’Koudou is getting a bit confusing, for it seemed as though a move to Mainz was on the cards.

Whether Spurs are wanting to keep their options open, or if the deal from the German side was not quite right, is known only to the club, but what seems certain is that the French winger will be out the door before Friday’s deadline.

He has no place to play in the squad, even with Heung-min Son missing as a result of his international duty, and that says all you need to know about his future in north London.

A permanent exit might be tricky to seal now and so a loan, perhaps with the purchase option included, makes sense to all parties involved.

Likely to happen?

Whether it is to Stade Rennais, Mainz or another suitor, N’Koudou’s days at Spurs are numbered and a move seems a given right now.

Heading back to France might well suit the winger in terms of personal reasons and he would have no trouble settling into the squad, which could be difficult at Mainz.
