Tottenham fans got some unexpected news on Wednesday when Sky Sports reported that Danny Rose was in line for what they called a “shock” loan move to Schalke.
A report on their live transfer blog (20.41) made the claim and many Tottenham fans were left questioning the wisdom of the move on Twitter.
One said that Rose going out on loan would only make sense if Tottenham were bringing someone in.
However, not all Spurs fans are optimistic that is going to happen and one said that Spurs are in decline – getting rid of players and not replacing them with anyone.
Here are the best reactions to the news that Rose – who some fans said was worth £50million last summer – can now seemingly only attract a loan offer:
Danny Rose going out on loan only makes sense if someone's lined up. Maybe Luke Shaw will come as part of any deal for Toby #coys #thfc

We talk about the ‘project’ and we’re steadily improving. Last summer we sold our best full-back in Kyle Walker. Luckily Trippier filled that void. This season we are selling Danny Rose. We are not replacing these departing players with quality. We have been declining. #THFC

Selling Rose is weakening our squad. If we were to offload, why didn’t Spurs do it earlier so it allowed us to find a replacement. #THFC

Not only does it look like no incomings, it looks as though we will let Toby & Rose go tomorrow- someone please tell me this is a wind up right? #THFC #LEVY #Goingbackwards

Always personally felt it was going to be impossible to get the same Danny Rose back that excelled under Pochettino in the 15/16 season.
However only way you can even consider allowing Rose to depart tomorrow is having another quality left-back lined up to come in.#THFC #COYS

OPINION
One fans asked what the hell Spurs were doing and said they needed a reality check. That seems a fair assessment of a window that’s quickly turning into a disaster. Spurs look like they might end up bringing no-one in, unless Daniel Levy can pull off a deadline day miracle. But where’s the planning? Toby Alderweireld is still at the club, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele are still at the club despite being told they can go. It doesn’t look like Jack Grealish is coming in and any other players seem to be pure speculation from the papers. It wasn’t meant to be like this and Mauricio Pochettino will not be happy.
