Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Tottenham striker Harry Kane after he scored a brilliant header to give his side the lead in a 3-0 win against Man United at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The first-half was evenly matched and while both teams should have scored, it remained 0-0 going into the break.

That changed dramatically in the second half after Kane directed a wonderful header past David de Gea to give his side the lead.

Lineker instantly took to Twitter to give his opinion on Kane, saying the header was “outrageously brilliant”.

He added, jokingly, that the player couldn’t stop scoring in August, after netting his first ever in this calendar month just last week against Fulham.

Lucas Moura scored twice to complete the rout and keep Tottenham’s perfect start to the season intact.

OPINION

It was a moment of brilliance that beat David de Gea last night for the first goal, but after that Tottenham just tore United to bits. After a first-half that was evenly matched, with Romelu Lukaku wasting a glorious chance after rounding Hugo Lloris and putting his effort wide of an empty net, Spurs took charge in the second 45 and inflicted their biggest defeat on United at Old Trafford since 1946. It heaps more misery on manager Jose Mourinho, who is now a short favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked. If he was looking for a reaction after their shock defeat to Brighton last week, this wasn’t it. However, while Kane’s header was brilliant, the Spurs player that really made the difference in the second half was Lucas Moura. He looked like a player transformed from last season, with blistering pace and deadly finishing. He scored the second and third goals for Tottenham, securing all three points and possibly driving the final nails into Mourinho’s coffin.
