Spurs defender Danny Rose could be in line for a “shock” loan move to Bundesliga side Schalke 04, according to Sky Sports.

A report on their live transfer blog (20.41) claims that Spurs are willing to let him go, along with Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele.

They claim Rose has faced an uncertain future since his controversial interview in the Sun.

OPINION

The 28-year-old left-back is a top quality player but his time at Tottenham is seemingly up, and has been for a while. He only made 10 Premier League appearances last season and for a player of his talent that’s criminal. He needs a move for the sake of his career and it must be considered somewhat surprising that no clubs have come in with permanent offers. Sky claim it would be a shock loan move and we agree. Schalke aren’t a huge club and would be getting one of the best left-backs in the country. There’s still plenty of time for players to leave either on permanent deals overseas or on loan – Tottenham and Rose would have until the end of the month to sort a deal out – but Schalke did come second to Bayern last year and will play in the Champions League. That could prove tempting for Rose, who will just be glad to get first-team football at the highest level again.
