Tottenham Hotspur may look to capitalise on Celtic’s failure to reach the Champions League by tabling a cut-price £10million bid for left-back Kieran Tierney in January, according to the Mirror

The newspaper report that the Hoops’ loss to AEK Athens in qualifying is set to bring a financial shortfall for the Parkhead club which Spurs will look to exploit.

The Mirror claim that the 21-year-old flyer was a top target for Tottenham in the summer but the club were unwilling to pay the £20million demanded by Celtic.

It is said that a successful swoop for the Scotland international would see Danny Rose leave the club.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

Absolutely.

Tierney is a brilliant young talent who is a firm favourite at boyhood club Celtic and has already captained the club on several occasions despite his tender age.

The 21-year-old is seen as Scotland’s next big star and has been the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs this summer, interest which will surely return in January.

A £10million fee would be a huge coup for Tottenham, with Celtic wanting at least £20million for their star man during the summer window.

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately not.

There is little to no chance of Celtic allowing Tierney to leave for just £10million, despite whatever financial difficulties may have been brought on by Champions League failure.

The youngster is far too valuable to allow to leave for that price, and Tottenham will likely have to offer close to £20million to have any chance of signing him.
