OPINION

Everton now have five points from their last three games after they ground out a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, thanks to goals from Theo Walcott and Michael Keane.

New signing Richarlison was sent off in the first half for an unnecessary head butt, and it looked as though in the first half Bournemouth would take advantage of their early dominance after a number of chances.

The Toffees’ defence took a battering in the first half, with Seamus Coleman putting on a dismal showing to allow the Bournemouth attack to slice through the back four, something which boss Marco Silva will not be impressed by after his side’s positive results so far.

Nevertheless, they have still gained a point from this match, and they can take this consistent form into their next fixture with Huddersfield.

This is Futbol has rounded up three things learned from the stalemate:

Seamus Coleman had his worst game in an Everton shirt

Coleman has been a mainstay in the first team set-up since his arrival in 2010, but few fans would have recognised the player after the display he put out on Saturday afternoon.

He is usually fairly consistent at right-back, but the way he switched off to allow Bournemouth to threaten multiple times indicated he was not at his best today.

The 29-year-old was average in the second half, but on this showing, he knows he needs to improve, as Silva will not be afraid to axe him for their next clash with the Terriers.

Richarlison must control his temper

The new signing’s unnecessary challenge on Bournemouth’s Adam Smith – which was an alleged headbutt – has demonstrated that the attacker has a temper on him that must be controlled.

He will be pivotal in the Toffees’ top flight campaign this year, but Silva must help him control his anger in order to prevent any more incidents such as these.

Everton will miss his presence immensely, and he will continue to be a liability if does not think before committing such fouls.

Hopefully being sent off will not have an impact upon his performance, and he seems to be one of their main sources of goals at the moment.

Theo Walcott a man transformed by Silva

We all know that Walcott is infamous for his lightning pace, and his goal at the Vitality Stadium only reinforced the fact that he is a man transformed under Marco Silva.

In what was an eventful second half, the former Arsenal man raced clear and angled a shot into the bottom right corner – showing that he has indeed stepped up a gear from last season.

Silva will be relieved that he can rely on Walcott – who stands at 5’7″ [Transfermarkt] – for goals as well as Richarlison, whose confidence will only improve after netting today

Carry on like he did on Saturday, and the flyer will definitely be in double figures for the campaign, much to the delight of Toffees’ supporters.

He was definitely the star of the show by a wide margin.
