Some Newcastle United supporters on social media tweeted their relief over Kenedy avoiding a ban for appearing to kick out during the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City on Saturday.
Journalist Chris Waugh of the Chronicle shared via his personal Twitter account on Monday that the referee had noted the incident in his match report so no action would be taken against the Brazilian.
Understand that Kenedy won't receive retrospective action for kicking out on Saturday
Referee noted the incident in his match report, but free-kick was awarded so no action can be taken.
Kenedy ineligible to play vs parent club Chelsea anyway – but is back for Forest game #nufc

One Magpies fan on Twitter claimed that Kenedy had struck gold by avoiding a ban which clearly shows they believe a suspension was incoming for their player while another admitted that they thought he deserved a ban for the incident.

From a Newcastle fans point of view I'm pleased from a football fans point of view what a joke decision definitely should have got a 3 match ban. The rule is a disgrace and they should change it and ban him for 3 games disgusting decision.

Frankly, Newcastle and Cardiff should be thankful they drew. The referee was so appalling in this match, I've started to miss Bobby Madeley. #NUFC

OPINION
Rafa Benitez, Kenedy and all of Newcastle must be breathing a sigh of relief over the fact that Kenedy doesn’t have a lengthy suspension slapped on him for his actions against Cardiff City on Saturday. The Brazilian winger clearly kicked out at Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa and it’s bizarre that he won’t be punished for his actions. However in fairness Bluebirds midfielder Harry Arter should also have been sent off and suspended following his actions against the Magpies so as long as he isn’t retrospectively punish then maybe justice has balanced out. Kenedy was awful during the 0-0 draw with Newcastle United aside from just violently kicking out at his opponents so it’s amusing that Magpies fans are so quickly to see him pull on the shirt again. The 22-year-old even missed a potentially match-winning penalty and the side would be better off without him if submits a similar display this season. Also seeing as several fans are shocked and convinced that Kenedy should have been banned it does show how bad the incident was.
