Some Newcastle United fans took to social media in order to rage over Rafa Benitez’s decision to start Joselu against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Several Magpies supporters tweeted their fury over Benitez’s decision with one labelling the 28-year-old forward a donkey as he couldn’t understand why the manager had opted to keep the faith in him.
Joselu started the Magpies’ first Premier League game of the 2018/19 campaign against Tottenham last Saturday and scored after he converted Matt Ritchie’s cross.
The 28-year-old forward made 32 appearances for the Magpies last season and only managed to score four goals in his outings.

#nufc What is the point in signing players which will better the team only for them to be on the bench. Joselu starts again! bloke is a donkey.

OPINION
Following the Magpies’ excellent display against Spurs last weekend, even though they suffered defeat, supporters will be keen to see them get points on the board against Neil Warnock’s side. However it seems that supporters’ faith in getting result against the Bluebirds has already taken a slight hit after seeing their side’s starting line-up for the game. Several Supporters are miffed that Joselu, who earns £40,000-a-week at St James Park (Source: Spotrac) is starting against the Bluebirds even though the forward put in an admirable display against Spurs last weekend. The Spanish forward got himself a goal last weekend, the Magpies’ only one of the game, and it seems very harsh that fans are writing him off. While it’s true that Joselu has failed to regularly deliver the goods for the Magpies in the past, his performance against Spurs merited him keeping a place in the starting line-up. If he fails to have a good first-half, it wouldn’t be surprised if Benitez opts to bench him and bring on Salomon Rondon instead.
