Man United have made a £35million offer for Barcelona centre-half Yerry Mina and want an answer today, according to the Sun.

United manager Jose Mourinho has turned up the heat in a bid to force the issue over Mina and it is said that he is confident the defender will pick United.

He will be offered a five-year contract worth £6million and will be told he will go straight into the senior team.

The 23-year-old defender stands a towering 6ft 5in tall and will add real presence at the back for United.

Good move for United?

United don’t want to lose the player with Everton lurking and this puts the pressure on Yina and Barcelona to make a decision quickly. United are desperate to bring some players in after a really dismal pre-season which has seen manager Mourinho publicly complain about the state of the United squad. A deal for Mina would be a great move for United and it would enable them to let Marcus Rojo go to rivals Everton in return. Everton fans might not be so happy that they could get Rojo instead of Mina. The fact that he has been given an assurance that he will go straight into the first team shows how highly regarded he is by Mourinho.

Likely to happen?

Will United get an answer today? That’s probably unlikely with other clubs interested. However, the official offer is a lucrative one and given a straight choice between United and Everton, you’d have to think that Mina would want to go to Old Trafford. If they lost him to Everton it would really set alarm bells ringing ahead of a season that Mourinho has already said could be a tough one for United fans.
