Yannick Bolasie is expected to leave Everton before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim the 32-times DR Congo international’s “future at Everton looks bleak” after he was frozen out by new manager Marco Silva in pre-season and failed to make the matchday squad for the opening-day Premier League draw at Everton.

Sky report Bolasie is one of 10 Premier League big names who could leave by the 31 August cut-off and highlight how the loan window for Championship clubs is one likely avenue amid reported interest from Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

Good move for Everton?

It does not reflect well on the Merseysiders’ recruitment that a summer-2016 signing costing a fee reported at £30million by BBC Sport – the third highest in the club’s history after Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison – could be loaned out to a Championship side for the upcoming season. Bolasie is probably worth a third of what Everton paid for him after two wretched years marked by injury and poor form. The speedy winger has failed to recapture his Crystal Palace form since returning from a shattering knee injury that sidelined him for a year, and the best chance Everton have got of now netting a decent fee is for him to rip it up in England’s second tier. With Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman jostling for the wide forward roles, there is no place for Bolasie in Silva’s side.

Likely to happen?

Yes. Something would have had to go seriously wrong at the negotiating table for Bolasie to still be at Goodison when the transfer window slams shut in two weeks’ time. A loan move to a Championship club is firmly on the cards.
