Everton manager Marco Silva will be sweating over losing midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as the 28-year-old has proven himself to be a vital member of his side already this season.

The Toffees may be just two games into in the 2018/19 season but it’s clear that Schneiderlin looks back to being at his best following a terrible 2017/18 campaign.

While the 6ft 1in tall midfielder (Transfermartk) showed glimpses last season that he was a top-quality player more often than not he let his side down.

However in the opening game against Wolves Schneiderlin was one of the biggest positives for his side as he controlled the midfielder and beautifully distributed the ball to his teammate to help them go on the attack.

The 28-year-old Toffees star looked like he was ready to submit another impressive display against Southampton on Saturday but unfortunately for him and his team he limped off in the 24th minute of the game due to injury.

Though it’s worth noting that in his 24 minutes, he managed to register the assist for his side’s opening goal with them going on to win the match against the Saints 2-1.

Toffees boss Silva has since revealed that the club are still waiting to find out the extent of Schneiderlin’s injury but that he personally believes it’s only a small problem.

“It is still really early to say anymore about that but it looks a small problem in his muscle but we have to wait a few more hours to be right about it,” said Silva as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Tom Davies, who is a very talented midfielder on his day, replaced Schneiderlin during the game against the Saints and while his performance was solid, it was clear that Schneiderlin was much more capable of winning the midfield battle for his side than the 20-year-old was.

The French international is able to control the tempo of games in a way that Davies is yet to master.

Silva opted to share that Schneiderlin was important to the way his side plays even if he tried to hide his worry about potentially losing him by claiming they simply will have to find other solutions.

“When Tom came in he did really well but he is a different profile of a player and even in the set-pieces we felt it, in some moments, because Morgan is an important player in those moments as well,” said Silva, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“But ok, we have to find the other solutions.”

Therefore this all means that with the Toffees having to patiently wait to find out the details of Schneiderlin’s injury, Silva must be sweating over the scenario of losing him for several games as the midfielder is now vital to the Toffees’ cause.
