Everton are close to loaning Kevin Mirallas to Fiorentina until the end of the 2018/19 season in a £6.2million loan-to-buy deal, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist reported on his personal website on Friday evening that the Merseysiders are in advanced talks to offload the Belgium international.

Di Marzio reports Fiorentina are set to pay a loan fee of £445,000 with an option to buy set at £6.2million.

Good move for Everton?

Yes. Mirallas has occasionally been a thrilling sight in the blue jersey, scoring some crucial goals in the six years since he joined, but he has slipped down the pecking order in recent times and was on the fringes before spending the second half of last season at former club Olympiacos. It would be decent business for Everton if they could get a £6.2million fee for Mirallas in a year’s time, although he would have to recapture his former heights to do so. That said, the slower pace of the Italian league should suit the 30-year-old, who has always been a player who performs in fits and starts.

Likely to happen?

A deal is now all but done. Di Marzio is the transfer king and, when he says a deal is close, you can bet your life an announcement is not far away. With the arrival of Richarlison for a £40million fee, Marco Silva needs to free up space on the wage bill and the departure of a player who has rarely featured in the last year is sensible business. Expect this transfer to go through.
