Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set for crunch talks with manager Maurizio Sarri this week, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the midfielder, who earns £35,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge (Source: Spotrac), wants a loan move if his new boss is unwilling to guarantee him playing time.

The Sun report that Loftus-Cheek is eager to be playing every week for a club after featuring for England at the World Cup and will request a temporary exit from the club if Sarri isn’t planning to use him this season.

The 22-year-old midfielder made a brief cameo appearance against Huddersfield Town in the Blues’ Premier League opener before being completely axed from Sarri’s squad for the game against Arsenal on Saturday.

OPINION

Loftus-Cheek was nowhere to be seen during his side’s 3-2 win over the Gunners on Saturday as Sarri opted to not even name the player in his matchday squad. After previously being assured that he was part of his manager’s plans, it should be no surprise that Loftus-Cheek is set for crunch talks over his future at the Blues. The 22-year-old midfielder is right to be concerned about his playing time as he is at a pivotal stage of his career and doesn’t want to lose all the momentum he gained from last season. Loftus-Cheek came on leaps and bounds while on loan at Crystal Palace in his 2017/18 campaign and everyone started to realise why he was so highly-rated. Yet as the world of football moves fast then it won’t take long for everyone to forget how good Loftus-Cheek is if he ends up stuck on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge. Given that European clubs have till the end of the month to sign players then the midfielder might be able to gain valuable experience from going out on loan to a club in Spain, Italy or France as it will give him a whole new experience.
