Tiemoue Bakayoko has left Chelsea for a season-long loan move to AC Milan and fans have flocked onto Twitter to react.

The move was announced on the official Chelsea Twitter page on Tuesday morning.

Bakayoko made 43 appearances for the club after his £36million move from Monaco last summer.

It has been reported by ESPN that Chelsea have earned £4.5million as a loan fee and that AC Milan have an option to sign the midfielder for £31.2million in the summer.

Some Chelsea fans appear glad to see the back of him, with a few saying “Good riddance”, although that seems a bit harsh.

Others are not convinced that letting him go is the right move, with one man saying it will be the biggest mistake the club has made since they sold Kevin De Bruyne for £20million in 2014.

OPINION

Things didn’t work out well for Bakayoko at Chelsea but it still seems extraordinary that a club can pay close to £40million for a player and then get rid of him after one season. It looks like Chelsea will recoup pretty much all of the money they paid for him if AC Milan take up their option next summer, though, which is something. Some fans wished him luck and hopes he comes back a stronger player but others have already seen enough. It can be tough at the top.
