Leeds United have held talks with Liverpool over a loan move for their powerhouse midfielder Marko Grujic, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

However, he added that Leeds “don’t seem minded to sign him” and that Liverpool are trying to find a club for him to go to.

Hay made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Thursday morning.

OPINION

A move for Grujic would seem unlikely after the player reportedly turned down a move to Premier League Cardiff. However, if he has been offered by Liverpool, then recruitment specialist Victor Orta should snap him up. Leeds are looking for a midfielder after Ronaldo Vieira left for Sampdoria and Grujic would be a brilliant addition to Bielsa’s side. Grujic might not have had much luck breaking into the Liverpool senior side, and the new signings Jurgen Klopp has made will have made that even more difficult. However, they do think he’s got a long-term future at Anfield and don’t appear to want to lose him on a permanent deal. If they’re looking for a progressive club for him to continue his development at then they won’t find anywhere better than Leeds at the moment. People might have been in two minds about how successful Bielsa was going to be at Leeds, but he’s had a fast start and his side is playing exciting, attacking football. Klopp will have seen this and he will be an admirer of Bielsa. This would seem like a match made in heaven.
