Chelsea defender Ola Aina is edging closer to joining Torino on loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira.

The Italian reporter claimed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday morning that Aina, 21, could have a medical with the Serie A club on Monday ahead of leaving Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis.

Aina spent last season on loan at Hull in the Championship and doesn’t look as though he is in Maurizio Sarri’s first team plans at Chelsea ahead of their Premier League campaign kicking off against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Good move for Chelsea?

Aina is probably never going to be a first team regular for Chelsea and it would be a better idea to cash in on him for good rather than sending him out on loan again.

The right-back is bound to improve while on loan at Torino, but is he realistically going to get anywhere near to the level of Sarri’s first team squad? It’s very unlikely.

The 21-year-old is just another one of them players in the Stamford Bridge reserves who is going to keep on being loaned out until someone eventually signs him on a permanent deal.

He has another two-years left on his contract, so it’s likely that a move like that would materialise next summer.

Likely to happen?

Given the fact that Aina has only ever made six senior appearances for Chelsea and didn’t exactly impress at Hull last season, it’s very likely that Sarri wants him out this summer.

Torino can still make transfers until the end of the month so there is no rush to get this deal done and dusted.
