After scoring twice for Swansea in his side’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United on Tuesday night, Oli McBurnie has told Elland Road fan favourite Luke Ayling that it was a “pleasure” to play against him.

McBurnie, 22, punished his former club with goals in each half of the Liberty Stadium showdown, however after both of his strikes, the Swans were pegged back first by Kemar Roofe and then by Pablo Hernandez.

On Wednesday, right-back Ayling used a picture of himself winning an aerial duel with McBurnie to hail his side’s comeback, which prompted a response from the Scotland international.

“Pleasure last night mate always good to see my bro,” said McBurnie to Ayling via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

McBurnie was fantastic for Swansea on Tuesday night and Graham Potter has done well to keep hold of the target man amid a lot of speculation surrounding his career in the summer transfer window. The Daily Mail reported in April of this year that Leeds United were going to try and re-sign the player that they once left leave Elland Road, while Rangers were also linked with the Scotland international, mainly as he supports the Ibrox club. However he has not gone anywhere and instead has signed a new deal at Swansea, so the Welsh club look as though they have their source of goals sorted for the season. McBurnie can certainly be in contention to win the golden boot award. He has three goals already in four games and if Swansea are near the top end of the table come May, the striker should have around 20 strikes to his name. Some Leeds fans may have been gutted about not signing him in the summer, and if they weren’t, they probably are after his brace on Tuesday.
