Marseille are in the hunt to sign Celtic forward Moussa Dembele and know that it would cost them £13.4million in order to pry him away from Parkhead, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper has claimed on their website that the Hoops’ emlimination from the Champions League to the hands of AEK Athens on Tuesday night adds more weight to a potential exit for the 22-year-old striker.

It is understood that Marseille do have other forwards on their radar and are yet to make an offer for Dembele.

Good move for Celtic?

With Celtic not looking as though they’re able to sign anyone between now and the end of August, it would be a pretty bad idea to think about cashing in on their key players.

Dembele may have suffered a lot of injuries during the last season and a half, but he is without doubt a cut above other players when it comes to downright quality.

He made such a difference when he came off the bench against AEK Athens on Tuesday, it was just unfortunate that the damage was already done beforehand and he couldn’t grab that extra goal to book Celtic’s spot in the next round.

Even for £13.4million, Brendan Rodgers should be turning away offers for the ex-Fulham striker.

Likely to happen?

Dembele is not the only striker linked with Marseille in this report and due to the fact he is so vital at Parkhead, it’s likely that the Ligue 1 club will turn their attentions elsewhere.

It wouldn’t be a shock to see the Hoops accept something like £13.4million for Dembele, but they should definitely demanding a lot more for someone who is bound to end up sealing a big-money move in the future.
