Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Amiens centre-forward Moussa Konate, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper claims on their website that Brentford are also interested in signing the 25-year-old Senegal international, who made two appearances off the bench in the World Cup in Russia earlier this summer.

Konate was in good form for Amiens last term, scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions for the club.

He also bagged two goals before joining the Ligue 1 club from Swiss side Sion in August.

Good move for Leeds?

Not many Leeds fans will have heard of Konate, and not many of them would be happy to see the club going after someone who is not a proven Championship striker like Abel Hernandez or Matej Vydra.

However the Senegal international is clearly someone who would perform well in England’s second-tier after a quality debut season in Ligue 1.

He scored against Marseille, got braces against Paris Saint-Germain and Nice and also represented his country at the World Cup.

Konate would be a very good last-ditch signing by Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta if the two Elland Road chiefs can pull off a late transfer.

Likely to happen?

At the moment, it does not appear as though the Whites have made a substantial effort to sign Konate, and with the transfer window slamming shut at 5pm today (Thursday), it seems like this will not happen.

Leeds could still pull off a late bid for the former Sion striker, but it just seems unlikely that another forward will be signed.
