Many Leeds United supporters turned to social media to rave over the performance of attacker Kemar Roofe after he played a key role in securing victory against Rotherham on Saturday (18 August).

The Whites welcomed last season’s League One playoff winners to Elland Road looking to continue their perfect start to the Championship and after a first half which ended 0-0, goals from Luke Ayling and Roofe secured the three points to keep up their 100 per cent record.

Of those out on the pitch, it was the 5’8″ (source: Transfermarkt) who had the supporters celebrating on Twitter after his smart finish, netting his third goal in as many games.

This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of some of the Leeds fans’ tweets:

Opinion

Things might not have gone as smoothly as they have in previous weekends but when you have a player who can do what Kemar Roofe can, you are always in with a chance of securing the win. The fans were right to be singing his praises – he was a constant thorn in the side of a resolute Rotherham side and his quality shone through exactly when it needed to. There are some tipping him for the Championship’s top scorer and while his record is impressive, the fact Leeds have Patrick Bamford waiting in the wings to take the centre forward’s role from him means he might have to settle for either rotating in and out of the starting XI, or being pushed back into a wing position as he has been utilised for most of his career. Still, with Roofe and Bamford, the Whites have a potent attacking threat who, on their day, can put anyone in the second tier to the sword, just as Roofe proved on Saturday.
