34-year-old goalkeeper Andy Lonergan signed for Championship Middlesbrough on Thursday, and Leeds fans have flocked onto Twitter to laugh at their rival fans.
Lonergan signed for Leeds on a one-year contract last summer, which was his second stint at the club.
He made nine appearances across all competitions and left when his contract expired in July.
However, he’s now been picked up as a free agent by Middlesbrough, who announced his arrival at the Riverside earlier today.

The main source of the Leeds fans’ hilarity is that they announced the signing of Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford earlier in the week and one fan joked that he was very happy with the trade.
Another fan pointed out that they’d taken Bamford and Adam Forshaw from ‘Boro and given them Bamford in return.
Here are the best reactions from Leeds players to their former goalie joining their rivals just weeks after he left Elland Road:

OPINION
Middlesbrough have signed Lonergan as their third-choice keeper on a free deal but why let that get in the way of a good joke? Middlesbrough and Leeds are rivals for promotion and if you just take the incomings and outgoings then Leeds have come out far better, although they have spent much more money too. Leeds fans didn’t rate Lonergan last season and they’ll be hoping he’s between the sticks when the two teams meet in the Championship. In the meantime, they’re enjoying the announcement.
