Leeds fans are getting excited after former-Leicester centre-back Robert Huth was spotted in the city by an eagle-eyed fan.

Huth’s contract with Leicester expired in July and he’s currently available as a free agent, which means that Leeds could sign him this season.

The 33-year-old has made 323 Premier League appearances and the centre-back position is one that Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has been looking to fill.

Leeds had talks with Everton over a loan return for former player Matthew Pennington but to date nothing has come of that.

The Leeds fan posted the photo on Thursday afternoon and the Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon confirmed that it was indeed the 6ft 3in centre-back after a few fans questioned whether it was him or not.

And that’s got plenty of Leeds fans buzzing about the possibility of the former Premier League man signing for them.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans to Huth’s appearance in Leeds:

OPINION

Could Huth still do a job at Leeds? Absolutely and he might well fancy playing under Bielsa for a year. However, he would have been on decent wages at Leicester and he might fancy a season at a club where he could earn more money. However, his options are obviously slim. There are only two weeks to go before the transfer window shuts and although Huth can sign as a free agent, he can’t have been inundated with offers. It could be a total coincidence that he’s in Leeds but this is the same place Matej Vydra was spotted and although that transfer didn’t happen, there was some solidity to the talks. We think Huth would be a quality addition to the squad – he might not be a typical Bielsa player but he comes with a vast amount of experience and could definitely teach the young players a thing or two.
