Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has aimed a dig at Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino failed to sign a single player in the summer transfer window.

Spurs had been widely linked with signing Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish all summer, but as the clock struck 5pm on Thursday, the North London club were the only Premier League team not to make any signings.

Campbell took to his personal Twitter account on Friday morning to pile the misery on Tottenham supporters by posting an image of Pochettino with him arm around no one.

“Spurs did sign someone didn’t they?” he said.

OPINION

It is quite unbelievable that Tottenham did not sign a single new player in the summer transfer window and there are now going to be major doubts over whether Pochettino can secure a top-four finish in the Premier League given the fact that all the other clubs up the top of the league have strengthened. It doesn’t help that Spurs had a lot of players in the final rounds of the World Cup, and most of them have only just returned to training ahead of the new season. It is also a shock that Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele did not leave. They can still go abroad where transfer windows are still open, but Spurs will not be able to replace them now and as their contracts expire next year, it puts the club in a poor situation. Fans are angry and you cannot blame them, and their anger is really going to build up with former Arsenal players now taking shots at them on Twitter.
