Tottenham striker Harry Kane has jokingly stated that he wishes every game could be in August after netting on the way to a 3-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Goals from Lucas Moura, Kieran Trippier and the England striker made it two wins out of two for the Lilywhites, with Aleksandar Mitrovic netting the consolation for the Cottagers at Wembley.

Heading to Twitter to deliver his verdict on the clash, Kane heralded his team mates’ “unreal” goals and made a tongue in cheek joke about himself after scoring his very first Premier League goal in the month of August.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Wish every game could be in August. Good win and unreal finishes by LucasMoura7 (Lucas Moura) and trippier2 (Kieran Trippier)”

Opinion

The curse of August is broken for Harry Kane, and there will be no one more relieved about it than himself. It was a silly thing that neither he nor his manager or team mates seemed too hung up about, but it was bizarre that a man of his goal scoring talents had failed to net in the entire of August, despite his numerous efforts. As much as he will not admit it, this will lift a little bit of pressure from his shoulders and he can now get up and running without any sort of distractions about his form. He was also decent enough to credit Lucas and Trippier for their fine finishes, and if the rest of the Tottenham squad could follow suit, there will be one almighty battle for goal of the season going on in north London. For Spurs, it is a case of job done against a side they were expected to beat, and they avoided any proverbial banana skins with a confident and composed performance. Next up are Manchester United at Old Trafford, and this is where Spurs’ credentials will be truly tested.
