Tottenham have received no offers for defenders Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose, according Sky Sports News host Jim White.

Speaking on TalkSport on Wednesday, White has claimed that the Spurs duo are not even close to leaving North London despite speculation swirling about the futures.

“Anyone who thinks this morning that with the European [transfer] deadline still to close there will be outgoing sales, ‘we’re damn sure they’re trying to sell some players’. I’m told this morning there are no offers on the table at Tottenham to be considered either for Danny Rose or for Toby Alderweireld,” he said.

The Mirror reported earlier this month that Spurs are ready to cash in on the £50million-rated Rose, with Bayern Munich and Schalke interested in signing the England international.

Another report by the Mirror this month also claims that Alderweireld could also be on his way to Munich with him in the final year of a contract that can be extended by an extra year, but that would trigger a £25million release clause to become active (Telegraph).

OPINION

It would not be wise at all for Tottenham to cash in on either Alderweireld or Rose between now and the end of transfer windows across Europe as Mauricio Pochettino will not be able to sign a replacement. It’s not like he has the squad depth to be able to replace them internally as well as it would more than likely mean youngsters Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth would have to step up. Alderweireld’s future is the most concerning. He is one of the best centre-backs in the world and would not be easily replaced – especially if he goes for just £25million. Rose on the other hand is not irreplaceable and if Spurs cash in on him for £50million in January, it would be a top piece of business by Daniel Levy as a new quality left-back can be bought for much less than the fee mentioned by the Mirror.
