Everton manager Marco Silva must start five of his summer signings for his side’s first Premier League game of the season against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.
Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison must all be handed debuts for the trip to the West Midlands if Silva wants to get his career at Everton off to a flying start against the newly-promoted club.
It would mean omitting some key players from last season, but if Silva wants to hit the ground running then he must be prepared to be brutal and swing the axe.
Jordan Pickford should start in goals behind a back-four of Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Mina and Digne.
Telegraph journalist Matt Law has reported that Kurt Zouma’s move to Goodison Park should be completed by the end of Friday, but it would be unwise to name too many new faces in the defence.
Idrissa Gueye and Barcelona loanee Gomes should play in the deeper-lying midfield positions, meaning that £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) Schneiderlin must started on the bench as there is no place for him in this starting line-up.
Everton’s attack force would be really excited if Silva starts Brazilians Richarlison and Bernard on both of the wings with Gylfi Sigurdsson in the No 10 role behind Cenk Tosun.
Wolves will be high on confidence after a good summer transfer window of their own, but with this line-up, Silva will give the Midlanders a major reality check and should beat them comfortably.
