Rangers have confirmed that midfielder Jamie Barjonas has joined Bury on loan until January.

The Light Blues announced on their official Twitter account that an agreement has been reached for the 19-year-old to spend the rest of 2018 representing the English League Two club on a temporary basis.

Barjonas made five Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers last season, but with an influx of new midfielders in the first team, it appears that his chance of adding to those figure this term are limited.

OPINION

Bury have got themselves a good young player in Barjonas and it will be very interesting to see how he fares on his first loan spell away from Ibrox since rising through the youth academy ranks. The Leeds-born midfielder, who represents Scotland’s Under-19s side, is one of the more highly-rated players in the youth side but Gerrard and Graeme Murty clearly feel as though he is better served being sent out on loan rather than continuing to play in the development squad. Gerrard has added a lot of strength in depth to his midfield this summer and that has already seen Greg Docherty shipped out on loan to England. It makes sense for Barjonas to also follow suit and hopefully he plays so well in League Two up until January that teams higher up the ladder become interested in taking him on loan for the second half of the campaign.
