West Brom manager Darren Moore has hinted that senior pair Craig Dawson and Nacer Chadli could be making an immediate return to the first team squad after their absences.

The Baggies have had to do without the two stars of their side for the first couple of weeks of their campaign in both the Championship and the League Cup, with Moore overseeing a 1-0 win against Luton Town on Tuesday evening.

Speaking after the game, the boss, who saw Dawson sidelined over summer and Chadli return late after his exploits at the World Cup, insisted he was hoping for a return sooner rather than later for the duo.

He told the Birmingham Mail: “They are both back in full training and getting nearer to where we want them to be.

“Rather than risk them early for a game, we want to make sure they are physically right to join back in with the squad. It’s just a matter of time before we hopefully see them back in the squad.

“Myself and all the fans should be looking forward to when both players are back in the squad and competing for a place.”

Opinion

Considering how influential both Dawson and Chadli have proven can be when they feature in the first team, the Baggies have managed to perform admirably in the league and cup so far. However, having them back from their respective layoffs will certainly be a boost to their hopes of immediate success. Dawson is a commanding figure at the back and should help bolster a defence which has looked leaky in the opening games of the season. Chadli meanwhile should bring some much needed energy both in attack and defence, running between the boxes and using his undoubted quality to bring something else to the Baggies side. Once they are back and fully integrated among the rest of the side, West Brom will be a formidable opponent for anyone in the Championship, and they will bring out the very best of their team mates at both ends of the pitch in a bid to push for a top flight return.
