Aston Villa beat Hull City 3-1 on Monday night, after goals from Tommy Elphick, former Hull player Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton, but fans were left frustrated by the performance of striker Jonathan Kodjia.
Hull took the lead in the game after just seven minutes but Tommy Elphick equalised on 14 minutes leaving the scores level at half-time.
The game was pretty even but a mistake from the Hull goalkeeper David Marshall gave Elmohamady the chance to finish and he took full advantage before a muted celebration in front of his former fans.
Hutton made the game safe and left the Villa fans in full voice.
However, Villa fans believe they could have had an even easier night if it wasn’t for Kodjia, who they accused of being uninterested and greedy.
One fan said they should get rid of the 28-year-old striker, who hasn’t been at his best since an ankle injury kept him out for the bulk of last season, and who was subbed in the 76th minute of this game.
Here are the best reactions to the performance of Jonathan Kodjia on Monday night:
Kodjia looks so far off the pace, head looks like it’s else where. Hope these two booked in for Medicals bring something different… pic.twitter.com/ugsAMQBipa

Kodjia just doesnt look interested. Its not a criticism. Just a plain fact. I wouldnt be interested either if I was expected to chase down aimless 30 yard punts down the pitch, time and time again. ???? #avfc

Kodjia greedy as always. Adomah, a bit poor. Whelan is as negative as he's always been.

Lazy, greedy, ego. Either he comes back down to earth or we sell him.

OPINION
Kodjia wasn’t the only person who flopped in the first 45 minutes – most of the Villa team was pretty poor. However, they picked it up in the second half and ran out easy and deserved winners in their first Championship game of the season. Kodjia didn’t get his goal though and the fans are right about one thing – he hasn’t looked the same since his injury last season. It’s early days though and if Kodjia can get his head down, get a goal and get his confidence up (and pass when a teammate is in a better position!), he will get the fans back on side. The most important thing tonight was the three points and they’re in the bag. Villa fans would have been far less forgiving if they’d dropped points tonight.
