Nottingham Forest keepers Jordan Smith and Stephen Henderson could both leave on loan deals before the EFL deadline on Friday, according to a reliable journalist.

Alan Nixon, the Sun’s transfer expert, has said that the players are attracting a “fair bit of interest” and that either one or both of them could leave by Friday.

He made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon.

OPINION

Jordan Smith had a nightmare in his one start this season, letting an early goal in against Bury in the league cup after coming for a cross and then getting sent off for a red card in the 32nd minute. He came in for some brutal criticism from the fans after the game. 33-year-old Luke Steele stepped in and made himself a hero, scoring and saving a penalty in the shootout to see his side through to the next round. He’s been on the bench since and it seems like one or both of the cover keepers are now seen as surplus to requirements. Henderson is a journeyman keeper who’s played for nine clubs in total, even making two appearances for West Ham. The most games he’s played at any club is 54 for Charlton, and he’s made 16 appearances for Forest. He could be on the brink of getting his 10th club under his belt. Fans don’t seem to hold much sympathy for either of them, with “Both, please!” seeming to be the common refrain from Forest supporters.
