After spending much of the start of summer hunting down and signing manager Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United have been playing catch up with the rest of the Championship when it comes to the transfer window.

The Whites were slow at bringing in new faces but have finally accelerated their business and made some exciting new signings, including the likes of proven Championship talent Barry Douglas and Patrick Bamford.

Bielsa and his men could not have made a much better start to their campaign either, seeing off recently relegated Stoke City at Elland Road 3-1 in their opening game of the season, and it could be that it was a result that has dictated how the club operate in the final week of the market.

Now, fans might be hoping for a late permanent signing before the window shuts, but quite frankly anything now would be a panic buy with the club paying through the nose, which is why Angus Kinnears’ confirmed plans should have the Elland Road excited.

As stated on the personal Twitter account of BBC journalist Adam Pope, the managing director stated that the club were looking at strengthening the squad with a loan deal over a permanent move, and considering the quality that could well be snapped up temporarily, it bodes well for the club.

A loan not only opens the club’s options to quality players out their price range, especially from the likes of Premier League clubs, but saves the top brass valuable funds which can be used to invest either in January or next summer.

It might not be the end to the window that fans would like to see, but with the loan market open until later in the month, it means Bielsa and his transfer team can calculate a move rather than rush into one – and with the manager’s contacts, it should get the supporters excited about what is still to come.
