A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to fume at the club’s decision to sell Ronaldo Vieira to Sampdoria.
The Whites announced on their official club website last night that the central midfielder, 20, has joined the Serie A club after signing a five-year contract.
The announcement has not gone down well with supporters, who are angry that the club have offloaded an academy product who has been capped by England at Under-21 level and is widely regarded as a rising star.

COMMENTARY:
News of Vieira’s exit last night came immediately after it was confirmed that Luke Murphy had left the club by mutual consent. That is 12 loan or permanent exits from Leeds this summer, a number that is seven more than the number of arrivals. Certainly, some of the deadwood needed to be cleared from the United ranks, but Vieira certainly does not fall into that category and it is little wonder the faithful are fuming. The youngster is a rising star with the ability to become an established one, and he follows the legions of academy products – Charlie Taylor, Lewis Cook and Sam Byram have also left for top-flight clubs in the last two years – who have been sold by the club in search of a fast buck. Leeds have certainly not done enough to mitigate the loss of such a promising player.
