Nottingham Forest will sell young striker Ben Brereton if the right agreement is reached with Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon

Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that negotiations between the two clubs had now advanced to the subject of a sell-on clause.

The Sun correspondent then goes on to say that Forest are clearly willing to allow the 6ft forward [Transfermarkt] to join their Championship rivals should the right deal be tabled.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

It depends which way you look at it.

Brereton is a brilliant young player who has been at the club for several years now and has huge potential, so losing him would obviously be a blow, and many fans would not be happy if it happened.

However, as Nixon says, the club will only sell if they believe the deal is right for them, so in theory it would be a good move from Forest.

With the wealth of attacking options at Aitor Karanka’s disposal this season, he obviously feels that Brereton is disposable, and fans should trust him to do what is right.

Likely to happen?

It does look like this one could very possibly go through soon, with discussions advancing to small details such as a sell-on clause.

However, as mentioned, a deal will only be struck if Forest believe it is the right one, and that means it is down to Blackburn to submit the right offer.

Whether that will happen is obviously unclear, but you would think it is definitely more likely than not to go through at this stage.
