Aitor Karanka’s remarks on Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall prove that the club are on the verge of making a wise decision regarding the player’s immediate future.

Karanka’s latest comments on the 6ft 2in tall centre-back (Source: Transfermarkt) revealed that the defender is seen as having all the tools needed to be a regular member of Forest’s first-team in the future.

However the Forest’ boss comments did also imply that in order for him to become a first-team fixture once again than he needed experience which he will only get from playing regular football.

“Experience is the key word,” said Karanka, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“You need to play, you need to get that experience.

“Joe, if he does not play regular football here, will not play for the England under-21 side, so he needs to be playing regular football.

“He needs to gain experience, because he does have the ability to play for Forest in the future.

“The club know that the player needs to play and if the player wants to leave and we can find a solution that is good for him.

“But if he does prefer to stay here, he needs to understand – and I have told him this – that it will be difficult for him to play right now. It is his decision.”

These comments implied that Forest were definitely keen on securing Worrall a loan exit as clearly they would want him to be ready to challenge for a first-team place as soon as possible.

The promising centre-back is also no doubt willing to secure a temporary exit to continue developing as not only is he yet to feature for his side this season but it seems Karanka has made it clear that he will struggle to get playing time if he stays.

Worrall appears to have a bright future in football if he continues to hone his craft as he did look very good at times during his 35 outings for the club last season.

Football Insider previously reported that Celtic, Rangers as well as Championship rivals Aston Villa were looking to borrow the 21-year-old defender so it should be easy to find him a club that will help him improve.

Therefore given that Worrall is a promising player but won’t receive regular playing time at Forest this season, it seems that the club are on the brink of making a wise decision by opting to loan him out following Karanka’s remarks.
