Nottingham Forest have fielded two enquiries from Scottish Premiership clubs about a loan exit for striker Zach Clough, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon, football correspondent for The Sun, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that both Aberdeen and Hibernian were in the hunt to sign the 23-year-old.

It is said the deal would take the form of a loan, although there is still work to do with personal terms needing to be agreed and Clough needing some persuading to head up north to Scotland.

Good move for Forest?

Yes.

Clough is a promising young player but his chance of playing much for Forest this season look to be low after a campaign last time out which saw him net just once in 26 appearances in all competitions for both Nottingham and on loan at Bolton.

With players like Lewis Grabban, Ben Brereton and Daryl Murphy ahead of him in the pecking order, Clough looks destined for another disappointing season at the City Ground if he stays.

A move to the Premiership with either of these clubs is a big opportunity, and it would be a move which would also benefit Forest, with Clough’s development sure to come on leaps and bounds in Scotland.

Likely to happen?

Forest would surely be keen for Clough to make such a move, but the striker himself will reportedly need some encouragement to make such a move.

There is also the issue of personal terms to be discussed, and that could throw up another issue entirely.
