Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton has been granted permission by the club to undergo a medical today at Blackburn Rovers after finalising personal terms, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the Championship big spenders have accepted an offer for Brereton to move on a loan-to-buy deal worth £6million to their second-tier rivals.

Football Insider report Blackburn have agreed to sign the forward, 19, on an initial loan that will become permanent in the January window.

Good move for Forest?

Not really. Brereton is a rising star of English football with the ability to progress into a full international in the coming years. He has slipped down the pecking order following a massive influx of talent at the City Ground this summer, and has not featured for Forest so far this season and reportedly “does not figure in Aitor Karanka’s plans going forward”. But Forest are strengthening a Championship rival by offloading Brereton and also letting go a home-grown player of immense potential. Capped by England at Under-19 level, he is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young forwards in English football and scored six goals in 39 appearances for Forest last season, including one goal in the 4-2 win over Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.

Football Insider are a reliable source of transfer news, and it appears the t’s are being crossed and i’s dotted on the finalities of this deal. With the medical underway today, an announcement is imminent barring any late mishaps.
