A section of Celtic fans took to Twitter on Sunday after seeing Connor Goldson’s slip cost Rangers a goal in their 3-3 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park.

In the third minute of the Scottish Premiership clash, the 25-year-old lost balance on the wet surface, allowing Danny Johnson to put Stephen Robinson’s side ahead.

And some Celtic fans instantly trolled the Rangers defender for slipping like Steven Gerrard did in his playing days when his tumble saw Liverpool lost vital ground in the hunt for the Premier League title.

OPINION

Goldson has been a rock for Rangers since Gerrard signed him from Brighton, but his performance against Motherwell was easily his worst for the Light Blues. His early slip, which could have happened to anyone, definitely left him rattled and he struggled from then on. It was bound to get a reaction from Celtic fans. Gerrard’s slip against Chelsea in 2014 effectively ended Liverpool’s hopes of winning a maiden Premier League title and if the Hoops faithful get any chance to bring it up, they will do it. GerrardĀ  will no doubt continue to keep his faith in Goldson though. The Gers face one of their biggest weeks of the season starting on Monday. They have Ufa away in the Europa League and then it’s the big one against Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday. Goldson will surely start both games even though he was off the pace at Fir Park.
