Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton is on the verge of joining Blackburn Rovers and the deal is set to be confirmed within the next 48 hours, according to Telegraph journalist John Percy.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday night that Brereton, 19, is joining Rovers on a loan deal which will eventually be made permanent for a fee worth up to £7million.

It is understood that the official announcement is now just hours away after the deal was agreed between the two Championship clubs.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

It is a massive shock that Brereton is leaving the City Ground, especially as the 6ft (transfermarkt) forward is one of the most highly-rated players to have come through the club’s academy in recent years.

Blackburn are paying a lot of cash for the England Under-19s international though so it is understandable why Aitor Karanka would accept the deal, especially when the player is yet to feature in any of his matchday squads this season.

However for someone with so much potential, it would be a lot better if Forest just hung on to the young striker as he could be worth at least double that £7million in a couple of years.

Likely to happen?

It sure looks that way.

Percy is one of the most reliable journalists in Midlands football so his word can be trusted.

With the announcement expected to happen by the end of Wednesday, this move is very much going to be going through bar any late hitches.
