Blackburn have made a “remarkable” £6million bid for Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton, according to the Sun.

The report claims that the youngster, who has been left out of the Forest squad for the opening two league games, is wanted by Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray.

However, it is said that Forest want £12million for their talented young hitman.

The deal would be a loan-to-buy move and the report claims that Brereton has been left “shocked” by developments.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

It depends how much money they get for him. The 19-year-old switched across from the Stoke youth ranks three years ago so the club are set to make a massive profit on him. He’s since scored eight goals in 53 Championship games and there’s a feeling that he could go onto be a real talent. The player himself is said to be “shocked” so it doesn’t sound like he was agitating for a move, but he’s obviously seen as surplus to requirements and it looks like Forest want to cash in. £6million is a massive bid for a relatively unproven 19-year-old and there’s now way they’ll get £12million for him. An eight-figure sum would be pretty incredible.

Likely to happen?

The end of the transfer window for permanent transfers is a bit of a nonsense as deals like this can still be struck. Championship clubs can bring in players on an initial loan with an option to make the deal permanent in January or next summer. Brereton has been left out of the Forest squad for the opening games of the season and it looks like it’s all about agreeing a price for him now. We think this one will happen?
