A section of Aston Villa fans have torn Albert Adomah to shreds after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.
Adomah missed a late penalty for the Villains as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup in Staffordshire, topping off what has been a dreadful start to the season for the former Middlesbrough man.
And some Villa fans showed absolutely no sympathy for the attacker, with one calling him “hopeless”.
This is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
That is one of the worst penalties I have ever seen from Albert Adomah. And then managed to sky the rebound. Shocking #AVFC

Amazing! Adomah blasts over the bar from 1 yard out – which is surely impossible. Please sack him, and Bruce please @AVFCOfficial

Adomah missed a penalty, woeful yes but so was the 89 minutes before it. Tactics / set up / dinosaur. It baffles me, his decisions and team selection. This is poor, we aren’t threatening the top six if it stays as we are #avfc

OPINION
Adomah’s season is going from bad to worse and fans can expect him to be axed after his shocker against Burton. Even before his late penalty miss, and subsequent missed rebound, the attacker offered little to nothing against a League One club. Last season, Adomah would have torn the Brewers to shreds, so what has happened to him? Maybe he just hit the peak of his career during his purple patch last season and is now on the decline. It has also been suggested that Bruce’s management has been him regress. Either way, he needs to be dropped and thankfully the arrivals of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie on loan can help Bruce change around his team and give Adomah a much-needed spell on the sidelines. These Villa fans are furious with him and it is probably best for him that he is excluded this weekend against Sheffield United.
