Aston Villa are discussing personal terms with Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan after the West Midlands had a club accepted by their Championship rivals, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed on their live transfer blog on Monday [18:37] that Villa’s £6million offer was accepted by the Robins and they are now in talks with the 24-year-old ace.

Bryan has proven himself to be one of the Championship’s best left-backs in recent seasons.

Last term he scored seven goals and supplied three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for Bristol City.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Steve Bruce may be about to have a busy few days in the transfer window.

Villa’s business has been understandably limited up until this stage, but they have now been able to stump up £6million for Bryan, who is well worth the price.

He is a brilliant left-back who has the potential to be able to play in the Premier League in the near future.

The former Plymouth man can also play in a more advanced role on the left wing if needed, and that could be something that Bruce considers for this season if he is able to pry him away from Ashton Gate.

Likely to happen?

Bryan should be playing for a team that is gunning for promotion and while Villa have had their financial issues, they may be able to mount a serious challenge if they get a few more deals over the line.

Middlesbrough have also been linked with the Bristol City left-back, so it’s not as though the Villains are in a one-horse race for his signature.

This one could go right down to the final hour of the transfer window.
