Olympiakos could sanction a move for Karim Ansarifard to join Nottingham Forest on loan before the transfer deadline today (Friday), according to the Nottingham Post.

The newspaper claims that Forest remain in the hunt to add to their centre-forward options after Ben Brereton left for Blackburn, and 64-times Iran international Ansarifard, 28, could be send to the City Ground on a temporary deal.

It is understood that Dutch clubs Heerenveen and Utrecht are interested in a last-ditch deal for the former Osasuna striker, who is yet to make a league appearance for Olympiakos this season.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Ansarifard was in hot form for Olympiakos last season, scoring 18 goals and supplying six assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

For whatever reason, he is now down the pecking order at the Greek giants and if they are willing to send the Iran international, who scored against Portugal at the World Cup this summer, to Forest, then Aitor Karanka should be happy to take him.

Anyone of his experience and proven record in front of goal should be a welcome addition to the side and the East Midlands club’s link to Olympiakos though Evangelos Marinakis surely helps.

Likely to happen?

EFL clubs have to cease business by 5pm on Friday and will less than two hours to go until that deadline, a deal for Ansarifard to head to Nottingham Forest is not looking likely.

A lot would have to happen, including a work permit, for the Iranian star to join Karanka’s revolution at the City Ground, so it is hard to see this one being pulled off in time.
